Whitley Carnival

On Sunday 11th June 2023, Aspire2 presented its BIGGEST-EVER event… Whitley Carnival, with 5000+ people attending! The theme for this year’s Carnival was Whitley: Past, Present, and Future with all the performances, art, and culture reflecting exactly that!

Whitley Carnival is a joint project with Whitley CDA that launched on Sunday 11th June 2023, with two parades that took place in the streets of Whitley and a Fun Day for the whole community.

The residents and community of Whitley joined the streets from noon, where two walking Carnival Parades departed from Reading Girls School and Ridgeway Primary School. The Parades included live music, dancing, costumes, props, puppets, walking sculptures, and more.

After a parade with over 5000 people taking part, everyone came together at the John Madejski Academy where a Fun Day was held from 1 pm to 4 pm, including workshops and stalls put on by talent and charities from all over Reading.
