WhitFest Showcase 2018
Showcasing Arts – Celebrating Whitley
In 2018, WhitFest is changing: Aspire 2 and Whitley Excellence Cluster are delighted to launch WhitFest Showcase, a wonderful new initiative to showcase the arts and celebrate our community in Whitley.
WhitFest continues to be a Whitley centred event, aiming to use the arts to make a positive difference in local people’s lives. Arts therefore continue to sit firmly at the centre, with aspirational, high quality and community focused opportunities in the lead up and opportunities to participate, create, perform and exhibit at a fantastic WhitFest Showcase finale event in February 2019.
YOUR COMMUNITY – YOUR SHOWCASE – YOUR OPPORTUNITY…..PARTICIPATE- CREATE – PERFORM – EXHIBIT
To bring Whitley people together to create a visually exciting community led finale event, details of how you can get involved are below:
‘My community’ workshops:
be inspired – get creative – chat Whitley
• Participate in our free drop in public workshops for all ages, delivered by local artists at community venues.
• Schools and community organisations can express interest in having an artist visit their class, group or club for a series of workshops.
Your community showcase:
you create – you share – you celebrate
• Individuals or groups who have already created some art – artists, bands, choirs, poets, theatre groups, schools, anyone creative! – can express interest to perform or exhibit at this brand new local arts platform. Your WhitFest Showcase stage is waiting!
• All work created through the ‘my community’ workshops will be shared at the WhitFest Showcase finale event.
WHITFEST SHOWCASE FINALE EVENT
The WhitFest Showcase finale event will take place at South Reading Community Hub in February 2019. It will be an exciting evening of community togetherness and celebration – A platform to showcase and share Whitley arts.
