Aspire2 Summer Holiday Events

Residential Trips to Ufton Court

  • 29 to 31 July – Years 3 & 4
  • 31 July to 2 August – Year 5
  • 5 to 7 August – Year 6 transition trip

These are all managed by a WEC/Aspire2 Project Worker.  Transport is funded by the University, additional staffing from WEC schools funded through parental contributions and Aspire2.  Ufton offer accommodation, staffing and food for free as part of the agreement with Aspire2.  30 places are available per trip.

Special Needs Summer Schools –  at Christ the King and The Avenue

Aspire2 won a £8,600 grant from The National Lottery – Awards for All programme to run two summer schools for children in south Reading with special needs.  This is a great example of WEC schools and Aspire2 working together. Aspire2 made the successful bid.   The Avenue School are holding the funds, Reading Football Club Community team are managing activities, a Family Worker at Christ the King, is overseeing school side and the Head Teacher at The Avenue is overseeing their sessions.   20 places are available for children 4 days each week days over the 4 week period.

 Family Day Trip to Ufton Court – 1st August

30 nursery aged children and their parents, and 20 primary aged children and parents.  Funded through a bid to The Woodward Charitable Trust – £450 received, which will cover coach costs.  Ufton are kindly providing the outdoor specialist staff and lunch for free.

Family Craft Sessions – 5, 6, 12 August

From 10 to 12pm, being held at Whitley Wood Community Centre, managed by Aspire2, with resources funded by Aspire2.

 Family Day Trip to Brighton  – 8 August  

A 150 spaces have been filled on 3 coaches – the cost is 50% funded by Aspire2, to help make a day out at the seaside affordable for all local families.
